Application: iSmart Application
The iSmart Consortium (“we”) operate the portal http://ismartkid.com (“Portal”) which is combined with the iSmart App for students (“Application”).
This Application is a tool that is implemented by the schools, to help students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, to perform better in the classroom and while doing homework. The Portal lets the school, teachers and parents provide digital materials and other assistance to the student (the child).
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information that we receive from users of the Portal and the Application.
We use Personal Information to the extent needed for the Application and Portal to fulfil their purpose - to help children with dyslexia in school and at home. This use is fully within the iSmart Application and Portal, and Personal Information is only accessible to the student's teacher(s), parents and to authorised school administrators.
We may also use your Personal Information in summary and anonymised form for improving the Application and Portal and their use, see below.
By using the Application or Portal, you agree to the collection and use of information and data of yourself and of your schools/teachers/parents/students in accordance as set forth below.
Information Collection And Use
While using our Application or Portal, we may ask you to provide us with certain Personal Information that can be used to contact or identify you.
Registration at the Portal is done by the school administrators (“Administrators”) making use of the Portal. Information is collected on teachers (“Teacher”), parents (“Parent”) and students (“Students”). This information includes Name, Surname, Email Address, Class and if the student is dyslexic or not.
In no way will this data be shared with third parties, but will be used solely for the purposes of providing support, and for the continuous improvement of the Application and Portal.
The iSmart Application and Portal will contain information related to your child, which is described in the above section. We are committed to protect the privacy of the children. In no way will this data be shared with third parties, but will be used solely for the purposes of providing the iSmart support to your child, and for the continuous improvement of the Application and Portal. However statistical summaries will be published after the piloting period (academic year 2015/2016).
Problem Solving and Confidentiality
Exceptionally in case of a problem situation, an authorised technician may need to inspect Personal Information to determine the cause of the problem. The authorised technician is bound by confidentiality and will not share Personal Information with any other person.
Log / Usage Data
For follow-up purposes, we collect usage information whenever you visit the Portal or use the Application. This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser version, the pages of the portal that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.
The level of usage per class is being logged, including the time and type of activities performed. This usage information will only be used by us in anonymous form, summarised at the class or school level (never per group or student). We will log the number of owned and shared files used by the Student and the number of messages sent. For parents, usage of homework support at the Portal will be logged in the same manner, again summarised only at the class and school levels.
For evaluation purposes during the piloting period (academic year 2015/2016), we may summarise usage data for the dyslexic students separately. This is important in order to find out if they are using iSmart more or less than their classmates.
